Not a Typical Beach Day

We set out for the beach on a very dark morning.  We were not 100% sure that we would even be able to have a beach day, especially when we got to town and hit a down pour.  After grabbing some snacks, we were off to Lambert Beach.  It was dark the whole drive out, and even rained a few times.  It was not raining when we arrived, so we walked out to the beach to check it out.  This is what it looked like on the horizon.

After deciding we would give it a try since it was not raining, we all got in the water.  It was not cold at all.  Soon, it was apparent that it was not a typical beach day.  The brown pelicans were having lunch, right where we were trying to swim!!  We all found ourselves just watching them.  It was a treat.

We were also treated with a few crab sightings.  We have seen their burrows on several of the beaches we frequent.  Until today, we had never actually seen live ones, we have seen pleanty of empty crab shells.  Today, one popped his head out of the sand while we were eating our snacks!

I know I have complained about the bees at Lambert in a past post.  I am really glad they are here, the flowers and flowering trees on the grounds of the resort are really beautiful.  At some point I need to learn their names!

Finally, as usual on any of our drives on island, we had yet another road hazard.  This one in the form of a work crew moving palm trees in the middle of the road by the Road Town ferry terminal!
